The Gower light railway

The Gower Light Railway was in fact never constructed! It was designed to link Port Eynon to the existing Swansea and Mumbles railway. An order enabling the building of a light railway was confirmed by the board of trade on 4th October 1898. The railway never achieved financial backing and so the plans were abandoned.

The Gower Light Railway had intended to provide greater accessibility to the Gower Peninsula for the people of Swansea and also holidaymakers. Imagine how different the landscape might look today if the railway had been built…
